MNWA

fake gameplay concept

Overview

MNWA is a conceptual fake gameplay project born from an old horror idea I developed with friends years ago. Set inside a claustrophobic Soviet condo, the game pits the player against Misha and his grotesque, stretchable conjoined twin, Malyutka.

The gameplay loop centers around a tense line-of-sight mechanic: looking at Malyutka forces her to freeze, but looking away allows her to extend and close the distance.

Recently rediscovering this concept, I decided to visualize how such a game could look and feel today, focusing on atmosphere, psychological tension, and minimalist horror design

To achieve an authentic interior, I scoured local classifieds and real estate platforms to study genuine apartment layouts and extract the most expressive details. The scene combines custom assets with pre-owned furniture and household props. Afterward, I transferred the project into Unreal Engine, layering in debris, stains, and Megascans decals to dial in the raw, gritty atmosphere.

The creature pipeline was kept deliberately streamlined: I started with a MetaHuman based on a facial scan of a friend, imported it into Blender, and heavily warped the proportions.

For Malyutka, I duplicated the head mesh, elongated the neck, and added a custom rig with blend shapes to allow for organic, creepy bending.
