DAISY-Animated Short Film

Blender Eevee Short Film

Overview

DAISY is my dark take on reimagining Shrek-what if it was a full-on horror story, and all the creepy legends and rumors whispered about Shrek in the movies turned out to be absolute truth? This idea stuck in my head, so I decided to build a short film out of it.

For this project, I used Blender for literally everything. I handled the entire pipeline from character creation and texturing to cloth simulation, lighting, and final layout.

When designing Shrek, I used the real person who inspired the original Shrek as a base for his appearance. Instead of going for a hard cartoon styling, I took the path of pure realism.

For the texturing phase, I painted the maps in 3DCoat and then imported the assets into Blender to set up the shaders and final materials.

After setting up the shaders, I moved on to creating blendshapes. I closely referenced the real-life person's face to capture his facial expressions as accurately as possible.

Next, I worked on the motion capture, tailored and sewed the clothing, set up the cloth simulation, and built the character's facial rig.

In parallel, I worked on the environment. Since creating environments is what I do most often as a concept artist, this part came together the fastest for me with zero roadblocks.
